Options

Options screen

From this screen you can control the settings for Double Delta. To gain access to the options screen, Press F9 at any time. If you're using the Mouse to control the Delta, you will not be able to control flight while the screen is displayed. You can still use the keyboard (4,6,8 and 2) or a Joystick to fly when changing options.

Wind Options

This section of the options screen allows you to change setting that alter the weather conditions for Double Delta. You can set the direction the wind is blowing FROM. The red bar shows the current windspeed which can be changed. The above example will always have a wind of no less than 2kts, gusting up to 20kts.

The deviation changes the wind direction momentarily, in this example by 2 degrees, changing this to a large value leads to rather tricky flights!!

Control Options

Here you can change the settings that affect how you control the simulation.

Reverse Ailerons/Elevators/Rudder and Throttle switch the directions of these controls, similar to how the CTRL+1/2/3/4 keys used to work.

Always use keyboard for rudder : This setting disables any joystick control of the rudder and forces the keys you have set for rudder control to always be active. The default keys for rudder control are Z and X.

Use Software Transform/Lighting : This setting changes how the game calculates the 3D graphics. Turning it off should increase the frame rate, but some systems do not support this feature, or actually manage to work better without it, especially if you have a fast processor and an older graphics card. The default is disabled.

Use Mouse as Joystick : This feature works the same way as pressing CTRL+M and enables you to fly the Delta using the mouse. White corsairs on the display show where the controls for Elevators and Ailerons are positioned.

Airfoil Model : This changes the flight model for Double Delta. The default is NACA2412, but there are 3 others to choose from. Some make the Delta fly faster but also make it less agile.

Replay Settings

This section allows you to load and save 100 different replays. Change the number from 00 to 99 to choose a replay. You cannot load a replay that does not exist ;-) and you will be warned if you choose to record over one that does exist. If you have a replay that you do not want to keep, use Windows Explorer to delete the file. The replays are stored in the "replays" folder.

The "Loop Replay" switch restarts the replay from the beginning again when the replay reaches the end, otherwise the replay stops and control of the Delta returns to the player.

When running a replay (by pressing CTRL+P) you can stop the replay at any time by pressing CTRL+P again.

The "Save Settings" button will save the options that you have set in the options screen so they are loaded up the next time you play Double Delta. The wind, control and loop settings are stored.

User Settings

In this section you can change the maximum Frames Per Second that the graphics will be refreshed at, setting this too low will cause DoubleDelta to respond slowly and the animation will be jerky, Setting it too high will strain your system and cause the video image to "tear". The best setting is that of your monitors' refresh rate, this is usually between 60 and 120. Anything over about 36FPS will look OK. During development of DoubleDelta, 100 was used.

The screen resolution can be set here, click on the button to set the next available resolution. Pressing the 'Esc' key will set the resolution to 640x480, in the case that a setting has been chosen that your monitor cannot display.

The final option is the mouse sensitivity. This does not affect the mouse pointer, but does change how sensitive the mouse is for controlling the Delta if you are not using keys or a joystick

.

From this section you can choose the Replay file that will be used. This is the chosen file for recording or playback. There are 100 available slots for replays. If you choose to record a replay over a file that already exists, DD will warn you of this.

You can set the replay to play forever by pressing the Loop Replay button.

Save settings will store your options settings in the file "prefs.cfg"

Start with random weather will give you different weather conditions every time you start playing Double Delta, and if "Start in the Hanger" is checked, you will begin your flight from the hanger instead of on the runway.
